Emission Control

My friend Pamela Brown runs a blog called Emission Control where she collects links, original articles, and publishes her own essays on a variety of current cultural and social issues. Pam is one of those people who is both fun to hang out with — and also a great sounding board when I want to compare notes about our world with someone who I know is paying attention.

Lately, the focus of much of her writing and public speaking has been about Network Neutrality (a.k.a., “Net Neutrality”).

Net Neutrality is one of those issues that may seem a little wonky at first but, upon a deeper dive, you realize will be one of the battlegrounds for economic and personal freedom in the 21st century. In fact, many people (and even some big corporations) believe that the stakes are nothing less than the survival of the Internet as we know it.

As we struggle to shape the “soul” of our modern world, tracking the policy decisions that are being made every day in areas like Net Neutrality becomes critically important. I’m glad that smart, dedicated people like Pam are on the case and her posts about it (and other things) make Emission Control well-worth a regular check-in and adding to your RSS Feed Reader!
