Pieced together technology got you off the ground. It’s time to gain altitude.

A fractional CTO and independent technology advisor for media studios, film & TV production companies, agencies, family offices, and professional service firms.

Let’s talk

You might be here because…

01

What you do best isn’t technology — and it shouldn’t have to be.

You’ve reached the size where technology decisions carry real consequences — but not the size that justifies a full-time CTO’s salary and benefits. What you need is judgment, not headcount: someone senior enough for the leadership conversations, who learns how your organization works, and keeps your technology decisions aligned instead of working at cross-purposes. For many clients, that means device management, cybersecurity and insurance oversight, vendor relationships, website infrastructure — one experienced person, coordinating it all. You stay focused on the work only you can do.

02

You suspect you’re overpaying for IT — and you can’t tell for sure.

The people advising you on IT are usually the people selling it to you. I help you make technology decisions from your side of the table, based on years of real-world experience: when a non-profit organization needed to choose a new IT provider, I assessed their environment first, defined what they actually needed, then ran the selection — proposals, references, pricing — as their advocate. For companies with a provider already in place, I audit the implementation itself — what’s actually running versus what was sold. The gaps are almost never visible until someone independent checks.

03

You used to have a feel for how everything ran — and lately you don’t.

One of the most disorienting parts of growth for founders — and one of the least discussed. The company gets more complex every quarter, and the direct feel you used to have for how it ran… stops keeping up. For one fast-growing studio, the surprise was how much had quietly drifted out of view: former employees with lingering access, spiraling costs buried in contracts no one had reread since the early days. I build the processes and workflows that keep you in direct touch with how your organization actually runs.

04

You know you should be doing more with AI — but don’t know where to start building.

You can’t automate a process you haven’t documented — and you shouldn’t automate one without understanding what data it touches. When a production accounting firm wanted to scale, the work didn’t start with tools — it started with talking to the team about how they actually worked, and where sensitive information lived inside that process. Mapping what’s already there is what turns scattered AI experiments into capability the whole firm can build on, safely.

How I can help…

Monthly Advisory

Up to speed, ready to move

I’m the expert your leadership team can call on — already grounded in how your business works — so you get real oversight of your technology, not a scramble to put out the latest fire. That means joining the right conversations, evaluating vendor decisions, overseeing security, and navigating AI adoption with foresight instead of reaction. The longer we work together, the more value I’ll help you capture.

Project Support

Focused help on a specific initiative

Sometimes you need help with just one thing: a vendor selection, a security review, an automation initiative that isn’t getting traction. Project support is a defined engagement with a clear scope, typically wrapped up in a few weeks. You get direct access to my independent judgment, and a recommendation you can act on the moment we’re done. Many monthly advisory relationships start here.

Common questions

What does a fractional technology advisor actually do?

I’m the experienced technology executive you can bring in for the decisions that matter, without hiring one full-time. My role is to help you and your leadership team make those decisions well — sharpening your strategy, weighing vendor and AI choices, keeping you secure — with the perspective of someone who has seen how other organizations have handled the same choices. Some people call this a fractional CTO or vCIO. What it really comes down to is having that judgment to draw on, so the calls that shape your company are made with insight instead of guesswork.

How is that different from my IT provider?

Your IT provider keeps the systems running, and most are good at it — but running systems and advising you on which systems to run are two different jobs, and most providers aren’t positioned to do both independently. I work only for you: I shape how your support is set up and lead the big decisions as your advocate, while day-to-day support stays with partners who answer to me. If you already have a provider in place, I also audit the implementation itself — what’s actually running versus what you were sold, since those gaps are rarely visible until someone independent checks. You also get the vendor and partner relationships I’ve built over decades: knowing who’s genuinely good, and what fair terms actually look like.

Do you only work with film and television companies?

No. A lot of my work has been in production and media, but the same problems show up in agencies, law firms, family offices, and professional service firms. Many clients are located in the traditional production hubs (Los Angeles, NYC), but I work with organizations worldwide.

Can you help us use AI better?

Yes! Most teams are running scattered AI experiments without knowing which ones matter or what data they’re touching. I start by mapping what’s already there, so whatever gets built rests on a real picture instead of guesswork — and I build it for portability from day one, since AI vendors are actively reshaping their pricing right now and a workflow wired tightly to one vendor’s tools can turn into a liability overnight. The goal is capability you own, not a dependency you discover too late.

How much does an engagement cost?

Every engagement starts at a $2,000 minimum and is scoped from there to fit your situation. A focused project — a vendor selection, a security review — sits near that floor; an ongoing monthly advisory relationship is priced to match how involved it is. I’d rather quote you something real after a short conversation than post a number that ignores what you actually need.

Ready for takeoff?

Most of my clients arrive as referrals. If someone pointed you here, say hello.
