“Morning Becomes Eclectic” Round-Up

If you’ve never heard of KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” show, you’ve been missing out on an incredible resource for music-lovers. For over thirty years, M.B.E. has featured interviews and performances by both legendary and the lesser-known artists. Here’s a sampling from this past month….

Sly Stone:

Sly and the Family Stone developed a collection of Greatest Hits that still reminds people of the power and beauty of a well-written song. Re-emerging after years in seclusion, Sly talks with Chris Douridas about his early life in Vallejo (rather than his later life on the Yayo). Let’s hope that he returns soon (and performs a few songs when he does!):

Passion Pit:

Manners is the just-released album by Passion Pit. Check ’em out:

Z-Trip:

The force behind Shifting Gears, All Pro, and Uneasy Listening Vol. 1, DJ Extraordinaire (and fellow refugee from Phoenix) Z-Trip sounds the wake-up call for KCRW Listeners — A great set!

There are also a number of albums released as various “collections” (e.g., “Rare On Air”, “Morning Becomes Eclectic”, “Sounds Eclectic”) with some excellent performances — here’s a few links to get you started:
